Jacquie Hollander

Jacquie Hollander was born in South Africa and trained at the University of Cape Town School of Ballet. She studied Benesh Movement Notation at the Benesh Institute in London and then taught at the Royal Ballet School for a year. This was followed by a year in Cape Town working as a Dance Notator with Capab Ballet Company. She joined the Royal Ballet Company in 1970 where she worked with many choreographers including Macmillan, van Manen, Robbins and Ashton and de Valois.

After 10 years with the company she pursued a freelance career, staging ballets in Canada, France, Hungary, South Africa, Australia, Britain and Japan.
She has taught the leading roles to dancers such as Margaret Barbieri, Natalia Makarova, Maina Gielgud, Marianela Nunez , Zenaida Yanowsky and Rudolf Nureyev.
